I am a commander on-board a large space vessel. It does contain military personnel but this does not appear to be a military vessel and it contains a huge civilian population and their families.
The dream starts from outside the vessel looking down onto it. It is a large, old ship that has seen many years of service. There are no obvious features to it.
We are travelling towards a rocky planet and appear to be trapped in the gravity of either the planets or the star. The old engines are struggling to keep up so we decide to throttle back and go into orbit to give the engineering teams time to work on the ship.
Fast forward and we have landed in one of the boats on the surface of an apparently habitable planet. We do not need any special equipment to breathe, for example. We have landed near an abandoned modern village but the buildings are in disrepair. The groups consists of military personnel and a small group of families who needed a break from their time in space. It is dusk at our location. We take shelter in the abandoned buildings and settle down for the night.
At night, things take an altogether odd turn. Unusual light effects fill my room and seem to walk along the walls. At first I wonder if it is an alien intelligence but I feel it must be an hallucination. I feel no threat or danger from these effects. It is obvious from the noise in the area that I am not alone and this reassures me, but also worries me. What could be causing these hallucinations? The children seem to be enjoying the light show.
The night seems to be over quickly and one of my men enters my room to tell me that they are preparing to move on. As I am still experiencing the hallucinations I order him to go on ahead and take the families. The sun is starting to rise.
As the sun rises the hallucinations slowly die away and I prepare myself to move on and catch up with the rest of the group, which I can see in the distance out of the window. I have a better view of our location and it is a dry, dusty planet. While I'm getting ready another soldier enters the room and explains that he also stayed behind for the same reasons that I did. We both leave together and start running to catch up with the other group.
As the sun rises the temperature of the planet starts to rise dramatically. It becomes clear that the group will not survive the daytime temperatures without water and shade and so we increase our speed to catch up.
During our travels the light becomes brighter and brighter. It becomes obvious to me that the intensity of the light could damage our eyes and we have not brought any eye protection with us for the civilians. We are now too distant from the landing boat to return before the heat becomes a serious problem.
The sun rises fully above the horizon when I notice that there is a smaller, redder star alongside it. We appear to have landed on a planet with a binary star system: something I should have been aware of as the commander of the mission. The temperature of the planet is now intolerable as we reach the larger group. I am concerned that it could even be a trinary system and so prepare to give the order to take cover for the day.
I arrive at another abandoned village and cannot see any of the group. Myself and the other soldier enter an abandoned building which has very small windows. There is a group of families already huddled inside. I shout out of the door to the rest of team and receive an answer. The whole group have taken cover in the various buildings. I tell everyone to breathe through their noses and keep their mouths closed to reduce dehydration, and to use a rag to reduce the amount of dust they breathe in if possible. Via our radios I inform the soldiers that we will have to stay in the shade for the majority of the day and wait for the suns to start setting before moving on. It will be impossible for us to leave the building in search of water given the high temperatures, but that the team should keep an eye open for a possible route out of the town, and not to put their eyesight at risk.
There is some cloth covering the window to reduce the amount of incoming light. The families seem scared as they huddle inside the buildings. It comes to mind that the baking heat may cause the temperature inside the building to increase dramatically, and we may need to abandon the buildings altogether. There is no obvious route out of the village while the suns are still up and we have no idea how long the days last.
And then I woke up.

The naked soldier
I had been accepted into the Army as a much younger, slimmer man. The training barracks where more like a school/college though and we even had lecturers.
I remember meeting my Sergeant a few times, and even the Lieutenant and possibly a Captain or a Major in his office, for normal things and to be asked if I would like to take part in something. I cannot remember what it was though I did agree. It may have been to attend a school/college!
My mind kept wandering in the one lecture I appeared to attend as she seemed to be waffling on about nothing. It was probably an English literature class as it had that sort of feel.
My touch screen computer was playing silly buggers at one point and she called for the "Computer Sergeant", which I hope I have made up.
The major recurring theme seemed to be that other than my satchel (something I have never owned), I was always naked when not in uniform, wandering the halls. Nobody seemed to mind, and some people even seemed to like this, which is definitely wishful thinking. It was all well groomed.
After a long, naked day I returned to my home where it appeared I was living with a friend. Another friend turned up, I don't know why she would, and one thing led to another. While I was desperately trying to get some sleep, but couldn't, they were desperately trying to create a new land-speed-sex record in another room. I'm quite disappointed I was not invited. This saddens me. He was making very odd noises indeed which both upset and entertained me. I have never heard him actually make noises like this, nor any normal human except on terrible American porn movies.
I eventually gave up and just wandered around the flat, naked again, obviously, wasting time, fully aware that I need my sleep because I'm in the military now! It was about 05:00 as I recall. It was very hot and very humid.

Hiding from the boss
I arrived at a place I used to work and started walking through the factory as a short-cut to where I wanted to be. I was not wearing the necessary safety equipment so I was trying to get through as quickly as possible.
Part way through my old boss caught me and showed me to another supervisor, who then showed me what I would be doing that day. It was at this point that I remembered that I do actually work here and the bosses didn't bother trying to find out where I had been all this time.
I was wearing my "decent" clothes so I was concerned about them being ruined. Nonetheless I got on with my job, as jobs are rare these days, which seemed to involve bending metal for no particularly obvious reason.
I got bored of that and the next thing I knew I was on my motorbike in the car park. Only the front of the building was no longer a factory, more of a hotel lobby.
I saw my boss, and the other chap, coming out of the building so I hid so that he wouldn't see that I was skiving. I started my bike, which isn't a quiet animal, and rode it out of the car park past the bosses, in the hope they wouldn't see me.
I had originally had a plan but I cannot remember what it was. This work lark was a nuisance that got in the way.
I returned to the car park, making sure to take the back entrance, with some yummy food. I then returned to my job and continued as if nothing had happened.
Then I woke up, perplexed.

Bouncers
The memory of this dream seems to fade in while myself and two friends are in quite a disgracefully drunk manner in Leeds, an eternally joyous occasion.
We attempt to enter a number of night clubs but are turned down by bouncers as there are "too many of [you]". This is a real thing: they really do say stupid shit like this.
Eventually giving up before the veins in the sides of our heads explode, we decide to go to a supermarket and buy our own booze to take back to the hotel.
My two friends enter first but I am stopped by a bouncer at the supermarket‽ He tells me that, "there are too many of you". This was normal back at school for small shops as you cannot trust a child not to steal from you.
"Okay," I said, "I'll wait."
"No," came his reply, "There are too many of you."
I tried to reason with the oaf but he insisted we couldn't get served because there were three of us, despite the fact there were only two in the shop. My friends tried buying non-alcoholic drinks instead and he was still being a tool.
I'm angered by his stupidity, but this is just a dream.

Airport troubles
We were going on a friend's stag do, let's called him Alan, despite the fact we've already been on it and he's now married.
I do not know where we were going but we were taking a light aircraft, just big enough for the stag party to fit. Oddly, his sister was also coming and she happened to be Eva Brittin-Snell.
His stupid sister decided she had to suddenly do something despite the fact we were already on the plane and darted back into the airport. My friend, of course, followed her.
The pilot started getting more and more annoyed as we had to wait and eventually gave up and started taxiing to the runway.
On the way to the runway we were informed that the two were heading back to the plane but the pilot couldn't wait. They were therefore forced to run after the plane despite the obvious safety implications.
As the plane was holding at the start of the runway to be given permission to take-off the two managed to catch up (although there was a third person - I don't know who or why) and jump on through the open door of the aircraft like a scene from a military movie. The whole thing was ridiculous.
"Shame," I said out loud, "I really wanted to bang Alan's sister." Apparently she was already in her seat and I had missed that fact.
The aircraft got up to speed and I noticed we were heading downhill through a tunnel. The end of a tunnel appeared to be a wall. Upon reaching the end I realised that there was a corrugated steel wall, but there was just enough space for a light aircraft to maneuver out of the way. This became apparent to me as my point of view had pulled out of the aircraft to a camera-like view in 3D where I watched the plane turn around and fly off.
A few minutes into the flight the pilot turned around and headed back towards the airport, not bothering to tell us why. It remained unclear why until we departed the plane and headed back into the building. It turns out we hadn't gone through passport control, somehow, and Customs insisted we return immediately, although I do not know under what kind of threat.
We made our way through passport control and headed for the toilets before we were due to jump back on the plane, as it had no such facilities. I assume we had all been drinking quite heavily as it was a stag do and not doing so is simply not cricket. I noticed a man peeing in a corner outside of the toilets, dirty boy. When I reached the toilets I discovered why: there were no male toilets. They were all female.
However, being eagle-eyed and really not caring either way where I pee, I noticed a disabled toilet and headed for that. The wallies hanging around were as confused as they always are by a disabled toilet: assuming that the toilets are for disabled people ONLY and hence discriminatory towards able-bodied people. Luckily I have more sense, even in my dreams.
I found it difficult to do my business as the lock on the door was broken, but I really needed to go so I managed to start a leak.
Mid-pee the male toilet attendants thought it would then be a good time to refill the paper towels and do their general duties, even though I was mid flow. They left the damned door open too so people could see me tinkle!
And then I woke up.

By Royal Appointment
Not a terribly long dream but I remember that I had been appointed by the King to look after the Queen. She was unwell in bed and it was due to the amount of work she was doing around the house (yeah, right?) but she would not listen!
At one point I was attempting to chauffeur Ma'am but the bloody car wouldn't start. Eventually she got out and it did.
I was awoken by the damned phone.
But what does it all mean?

High-Tech Cop
Not a great deal of detail, but I was a cop in a high-tech city, with police cameras everywhere. Nothing like Judge Dredd, in case you're wondering.
Obviously, it was my job to reduce crime, and to arrest any suspects discovered by the cameras.
For some reason, my only weapon was a metal bar or a cosh, while the criminals all had guns. Using some sort of incredible laser thing, though, the camera-cops could disable the guns, protecting me from harm. Which is nice.
There were a lot of people missing limbs and using prosthetics of various qualilty for some reason.
The dream ended with a particularly cocky son-of-a-bitch who couldn't speak English, and who pulled a gun on me (which was disabled before he attempted to fire three times). He was wearing yellow gang colours so it was fairly obvious he belonged to an out-of-town gang.
Once arrested and questioned he suddenly remembered he spoke English, albeit in a cocky manner. He was fairly aggressive and had to be subdued in the cell multiple times.
Oddly, the cell door did not lock down properly. The only lock on the door being a small, broken bolt-lock, and he wandered out to try to be "smart". I placed him back in the cell and started banging the wall shouting, "Lock down!" to get the attention of someone on the cameras to lock the door electronically, which they eventually did.
At this point my uncle turned up, who lived right next door to the cell (for some reason) and he asked if I could keep it down as he was tired, and started unlocking his front door. I apologised and informed him that it was necessary with "this one".
And then I woke up.
In hindsight (now that I'm awake), I think I would have to transfer this prisoner to a much more secure facility than what appeared to be a block of flats with a locking mechanism.
